Winter Weather Knocks-Out Power to 1,300 Residents in Southern Oregon

Medford, Oregon – Pacific Power crews are working to address multiple scattered outages across their southern Oregon service area, affecting approximately 1,300 customers. These disruptions are a result of the ongoing winter weather conditions sweeping through the region.

Field crews are actively engaged in restoring power to affected areas, prioritizing safety amidst challenging weather conditions. With snowfall anticipated to persist through the weekend, Pacific Power’s meteorology team remains closely monitoring the storm’s trajectory.

Preparedness and proactive measures are key during such circumstances. Pacific Power advises customers to remain vigilant and offers the following recommendations:

  • Update Contact Information: Ensure your contact details are up to date to facilitate effective communication during outages.
  • Sign Up for Outage Alerts: Receive timely updates via text, email, or phone regarding outage status.
  • Restock Your Outage Kit: Equip yourself with essential supplies to sustain during power disruptions.
  • Keep Mobile Devices Charged: Maintain sufficient battery levels on mobile devices for emergency use.
  • Utilize the Pacific Power App: Stay informed, track outages, and update contact information conveniently via the free Pacific Power app.
  • Report Outages: Text “OUT” to 722797 to report an outage or “STAT” to check its status.

Safety remains important during such situations. Pacific Power urges customers to exercise caution and avoid all downed power and utility lines, emphasizing the potential hazards even if lines are not visibly sparking. Additionally, it is imperative to steer clear of downed trees and powerlines, and to keep pets away from these areas.

In the event of encountering a downed line, customers are advised to prioritize their safety by immediately calling 911 and subsequently reporting the outage to Pacific Power at 1-877-508-5088.
