Oregon Lottery Creates “For the Swifties” Super Bowl Bets

Salem, Oregon– As the excitement builds for Super Bowl Sunday, fans in Oregon have an extra reason to cheer with the array of entertaining wagers available through the Oregon Lottery’s DraftKings Sportsbook. Whether rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers, fans can immerse themselves in a world of fun bets, including those inspired by pop sensation Taylor Swift.

This year, DraftKings Sportsbook presents a series of themed bets tailored “for the Swifties.” For instance, fans can bet on whether the iconic “Shake It Off” anthem will manifest as the first scoring action by either team. Another bet, dubbed “Wildest Dream,” speculates on Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce’s potential to score both the first and last touchdown of the game.

Oregon Lottery’s Sports Betting Products Manager, Kerry Hemphill, highlighted the Super Bowl’s unparalleled allure as a betting extravaganza. Since its inception in October 2019, Oregon’s sports betting scene has witnessed a staggering $1.75 billion in wagers. Hemphill noted, “The fanfare and celebrities at this event generate the most interest in sports betting we see all year. The ‘Taylor’ effect may also result in more casual sports betters taking a chance to have fun.”

Apart from traditional game plays, Super Bowl enthusiasts can engage in “prop bets,” offering a diverse range of predictions. This year’s prop bets encompass whimsical queries, including the color of the Gatorade shower on the winning coach, the game’s MVP, and the likelihood of a scoreless quarter due to stout defenses.

In the previous year’s Super Bowl, Oregonians displayed fervent participation, placing nearly 307,000 bets via DraftKings Sportsbook, amounting to $5.3 million in wagers. Notably, a player clinched a substantial win of over $21,000 by astutely selecting three consecutive league winners, culminating with the Super Bowl, from a $350 bet.

However, the Oregon Lottery emphasizes responsible gaming practices. Players must be 21 years or older to place sports wagers in Oregon and are encouraged to utilize the Responsible Gaming features within the DraftKings app, such as setting wager limits or cooldown periods.

For additional guidance and support, individuals can access resources provided by the Oregon Problem Gambling Resource at opgr.org or contact 1-877-MYLIMIT to engage with certified counselors confidentially and free of charge.
