High Wind Warning Issued for Areas of Jackson County

WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM WEDNESDAY… …HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 PM WEDNESDAY…

  • WHAT…For the High Wind Warning, southeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. For the Wind Advisory, southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • WHERE…For the High Wind Warning, portions of southeast Jackson County including Ashland and Interstate 5 at Siskiyou Summit. For the Wind Advisory, higher terrain above 2000 feet surrounding the Rogue Valley, as well as for portions of the Rogue Valley including South Medford, Phoenix, Talent, White City, Eagle Point, Butte Falls, and Prospect.
  • WHEN…For the Wind Advisory, from 1 PM Tuesday to 7 PM PST Wednesday. For the High Wind Warning, from 10 PM Tuesday to 7 PM PST Wednesday.
  • IMPACTS…Damaging winds can blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Winds will begin to increase late this morning. The strongest winds in southeast Jackson County will occur Wednesday morning.
  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
