Oregon Man Missing for Two Days, Found Alive in Dry Well

Bend, Oregon- In a remarkable turn of events, 34-year-old Bend resident John Michael McLerran, who went missing on December 25, was discovered alive in a dry well on Wednesday afternoon, sparking relief among friends, family, and the local community.

The incident unfolded when McLerran, reported missing on Christmas Day after leaving his home in Bend for a coffee run, failed to return. A welfare check was initiated at 5:36 p.m. on the same day, revealing he had left without his wallet or identification.

At approximately 3:07 p.m. on December 27, a community member dialed 911 to report a startling discovery – McLerran was found stuck about 6 feet below street level in a dry well located within a storage parking lot. Bend Police and Bend Fire & Rescue responded, successfully extracting McLerran from the drain.

Following the rescue operation, McLerran was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend for evaluation. Despite his two-day ordeal, he was found to be in good condition, much to the relief of his worried loved ones.

The discovery and rescue showcased the power of community vigilance and cooperation. Local authorities praised the community member who made the critical 911 call, emphasizing the importance of residents looking out for one another.
