


Hood River, Oregon – In the early hours of this morning, at 1:56 am, emergency services were alerted to a significant fire at Gorge Building Supply, situated at 755 Frankton Road, Hood River. Numerous distress calls flooded the 911 lines, describing a rapidly spreading fire that had engulfed multiple structures.
Responding to the emergency, a unit from West Side Fire and Hood River Fire arrived to find several buildings ablaze. The intensity of the fire, coupled with the sheer size of the structures and the nature of their contents, prompted the incident commander to request additional resources.
Firefighters are currently on-site, collaborating with an investigator from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office (OSFM) to ascertain the cause and origin of the fire. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries as a result of the incident.
The emergency response was a collaborative effort, with units from West Side Fire District receiving support from Hood River Fire & EMS, Wy’East Fire District, Cascade Locks Fire, Parkdale Fire, Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue, and assistance from Klickitat County White Salmon and Bingen Fire.
At present, the cause of the fire remains undetermined, and there is no available estimate for the extent of the damage caused. Authorities continue their investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this destructive event.
