Early Morning West Medford Structure Fire Under Investigation

Medford, Oregon– In the early hours of today, at 5:00 a.m., the Medford Fire Department (MFD) responded to a reported structure fire on the 300 block of Newtown Street, following an alert from Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon (ECSO) 911.

Upon arrival, fire units encountered a challenging situation, with heavy involvement in one unit and the attic. Swift and coordinated efforts were undertaken to control the fire, with Medford Police providing crucial assistance in evacuating occupants from the uninvolved apartments, ensuring the safety of residents. MFD crews were working the incident for about 3 hours and 39 minutes, as they hunted down hot spots after the initial fire knock down.

As of now, fire investigators are actively on the scene, working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. Their thorough investigation aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this incident.
