Ashland, Oregon- The Emergency Homeless Shelter at 2200 Ashland St in southeast Ashland has now been successfully operational since its opening on November 1, 2023. Funded by the State of Oregon as part of Governor Kotek’s Emergency Order 23-02, the site, acquired in September 2023, is currently managed by the local service provider, Opportunities for Housing, Resources and Assistance, Inc. (OHRA).
OHRA’s efforts have resulted in the accommodation of 38 individuals since the shelter’s inception, with 28 guests currently finding refuge within its walls. The consistent full occupancy underscores the pressing need for such facilities in the community.
To ensure that residents have a voice in shaping the shelter’s future, the City encourages everyone to participate in the online Feedback Form. This form is accessible on the City’s website, and the deadline for submitting comments is Tuesday, December 19, at Noon.
The City Council is set to deliberate on the future operations of the Emergency Homeless Shelter from late December to early January, taking into account the valuable feedback received from the community.
