Foothill Road Reopens to Traffic with Temporary Speed Limit

Medford, Oregon- In welcome news for commuters in the east Medford area, Foothill Road, from Hillcrest Road to East McAndrews Road, has officially reopened to traffic. However, motorists are urged to exercise caution as a temporary speed limit of 35 MPH has been imposed due to ongoing construction activities related to the $62 million Foothill Road project, also known as the Mega-Corridor.

The construction project, funded in part by a substantial $15 million Federal Build Grant received by Medford, aims to enhance Foothill Road from Delta Waters Road south to Hillcrest Road. This undertaking is a crucial step towards improving the overall infrastructure in the region, providing a more efficient and safer commuting experience for residents.

As construction continues in the area for an extended period, commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly and allocate extra time for their daily travels. The cautious approach ensures the safety of both drivers and construction workers involved in this ambitious project.

The Mega-Corridor project is slated for completion at the end of 2026. Upon its conclusion, the existing two-lane road will undergo a transformative upgrade, featuring two lanes in each direction, dedicated turn lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes, and enhanced street lighting. This comprehensive overhaul reflects Medford’s commitment to fostering a modern and accessible transportation network that aligns with the growing needs of the community.

To minimize disruptions to the public, future road closures associated with the Mega-Corridor project will be communicated in advance, allowing residents to plan their travel routes with foresight. This proactive approach seeks to ensure a smooth transition throughout the construction phase, emphasizing community engagement and cooperation.
