OSP Trooper Injured After Suspect Rams Patrol Car

An Oregon State Police Lieutenant sustained minor injuries today after authorities say a suspect deliberately rammed their vehicle into the officer’s patrol car on Interstate 5 in Marion County.

The incident unfolded at 8:43 a.m. as the Lieutenant was attempting to bring the suspect to a stop and clear the highway. The suspect’s vehicle forcefully collided with the patrol car from behind, causing it to spin and collide with the barrier before the suspect fled northbound. Quick response led to the apprehension of the suspect in the Salem area.

The suspect is now in custody, ensuring there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The Oregon State Police, in collaboration with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, is actively investigating the incident.
