On October 20, 2023, the Grants Pass Police Department launched an investigation following allegations of sexual abuse against a child, at Caveman Bowl on Rogue River Highway.
After days of investigating the details, Grants Pass Police Detectives made an arrest in connection to the case. Edward Benavente, a 78-year-old Josephine County resident, now faces charges of 1st Degree Sexual Abuse of a minor under 12 years old, as well as two counts of Purchasing Sex with a Minor.
Benavente was taken into custody on October 24, 2023, and subsequently lodged at the Josephine County Jail, awaiting legal proceedings.

Due to the sensitive nature of this ongoing investigation, officials say further details are being withheld at this time.
