RCC Receives Big Donation from Siskiyou Community Health Center

The Rogue Community College (RCC) Foundation is delighted to announce the receipt of an $8,000 donation from the Siskiyou Community Health Center, a contribution that will significantly benefit the aspiring nurses of the 2023-2024 school year at RCC.

As the RCC Nursing Department continues to expand, the need for stethoscopes for incoming students became evident, with a requirement for 80 quality stethoscopes to equip the next generation of healthcare professionals. Recognizing the importance of this need, the RCC Foundation reached out to Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kristin Miller, to share the situation.

Dr. Miller, passionate about supporting healthcare education, presented the request to the leadership team at Siskiyou Community Health Center. Shortly thereafter, the Foundation received the welcome news that Siskiyou Community Health Center’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Richard Booth, had approved their request for assistance.

Richard Booth expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to RCC’s nursing program, saying, “When Dr. Miller let me know about the opportunity to help supply stethoscopes to RCC’s incoming nursing program students, I was excited to be in a position to assist. Siskiyou Community Health Center is proud to support RCC’s healthcare professional education programs and collaborate with them to increase the number of healthcare professionals supporting our community.”

Thanks to the generous $8,000 donation from Siskiyou Community Health Center, RCC ordered the much-needed stethoscopes, ensuring that they are available for the fall term’s nursing students. During the 2023-2024 school year, RCC anticipates a total of 118 nursing students, with 80 of them benefiting from these new stethoscopes.
