This is an update to Medford Alert’s previous live coverage of the incident.
In a late-night incident on September 15, four minors ended up in police custody after a shooting along the 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in west Medford. Medford police responded to a report of shots fired, which occurred at approximately 10:30 pm that night.
According to witnesses at the scene, an individual was targeted in front of a residence, but thankfully, they were not injured as the shooter fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers on the scene immediately launched a search operation to locate the suspects.
Medford Police’s diligent efforts paid off when they successfully located and pulled over a vehicle they believed to be involved in the shooting, later in the sane night. The vehicle stop took place near a restaurant on Poplar Drive and OR62. Inside the vehicle were three juvenile suspects, including the alleged shooter, all of whom were taken into custody without any incident.
The age range of the individuals involved in this incident is between 13 to 17 years old, highlighting the alarming nature of the events that unfolded. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the estimated 10-20 rounds fired during the incident.
As of now, it remains uncertain what charges the detained minors may face, as the investigation into the shooting continues. Medford Police Lieutenant Kirkpatrick told Medford Alert that all known parties involved have been contacted, and there is no search for any additional individuals related to this case.
The Medford Police Department is actively pursuing this investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
