Woman Arrested in Downtown Medford Stabbing Incident

On Tuesday, August 29th, Medford Police officers responded to a stabbing call, where they discovered a 53-year-old male and a 6-year-old female family member had been confronted by an unknown adult female.

The incident, which occurred around 10:00a near W. 6th and Central Ave, unfolded when the adult female, later identified as 32-year-old Marjan Ezzati, initiated a bizarre and unprovoked encounter with the family duo. Eyewitnesses reported that Ezzati began uttering nonsensical statements, then abruptly produced a knife and proceeded to stab the male victim in the hip.

An employee of a nearby local business intervened, and confronted Ezzati, prompting her to retreat. Law enforcement officers responding to the scene managed to locate Ezzati a short distance away. She was then taken into custody by MPD.

Following her arrest, Ezzati was transported to the Medford Police Department for questioning by detectives. She was booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of Assault 2 and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The injured male victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. The minor child accompanying him was not injured during the incident.

Local authorities are urging anyone with further information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

A criminal complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
