Southern Oregon Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., Douglas County 911 dispatchers received a call reporting a crash involving a motorcycle.

Emergency response teams, including deputies, fire personnel, and EMS, rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies found that a collision had taken place between a 2020 Suzuki GSX motorcycle and a 2014 Toyota. Authorities say the motorcycle, driven by 34-year-old Roseburg resident Justin Allen Maxwell, was headed west on Old Melrose Road at a high speed when it collided with the Toyota. The vehicle was in the process of making a left-hand turn into a residential driveway at the time of impact.

The motorcycle rider, Justin Allen Maxwell, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the 2014 Toyota, 69-year-old Steven Gordon Soper, also a resident of Roseburg, emerged from the incident unharmed.

The investigation is ongoing currently, and no additional information was released by authorities at this time.
