Suspect and Victim Hospitalized After Grants Pass Shooting

This morning at 8:52 AM, Grants Pass Police Officers responded to a shooting near the M Street Market, which left one individual injured. The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound, was located by officers upon their arrival at the scene. The situation took a tense turn when the suspect, armed with a firearm, was identified and engaged by law enforcement.

The confrontation quickly escalated, culminating in an officer-involved shooting. Both the victim and the suspect were subsequently transported to an area hospital with gunshot wounds. As of the latest update, both individuals remain in serious but stable condition under medical care.

None of the officers who responded to the incident were harmed, and authorities have reassured the community that there is no ongoing threat stemming from the incident.

To facilitate a comprehensive investigation into the matter, authorities have closed SE M Street from SE N Street to SE Green Briar Lane. This closure is expected to persist until the conclusion of the inquiry. Citizens are urged to avoid the affected area until further notice.

Taking the lead in the investigation, the Oregon State Police are diligently working to uncover the details surrounding the shooting.
