O’Brien Creek Wildfire Closes US101 Near Gold Beach

U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway) is closed from Milepost 311-320, between Port Orford and Gold Beach, due to a wildfire.

Officials state this may be an extended closure. Motorists are advised to avoid the area due to firefighting efforts.

As of 5p, the wildfire is approximately 6 acres with 0% containment. According to Curry County, there are Level 3 Evacuation Orders in the Coy Creek area.

The Red Cross has been asked to open a shelter to help those being evacuated in Curry County. Those in need of shelter are asked to go to the First Baptist Church at 29755 Turner St. Gold Beach, OR 97444. Shelter is opening at 6 pm.
