Granger Smith Rocks Second Day of 2023 Jackson County Fair

The Jackson County Fair provided another fantastic day of fun and entertainment on Thursday, July 13, as fairgoers enjoyed a wide array of activities. The highlight of the evening was the headlining performance by country music star Granger Smith, accompanied by special guest Nate Botsford. The energetic crowd at the packed Bi-Mart Amphitheater came alive as Granger Smith sang his hits, including the chart-topping “Backroad Song” from his album Remington.

Many fair attendees also took the opportunity to indulge in delicious treats. Corn dogs, ice cream cones, pizza, and tri-tip sandwiches proved to be the popular food choices for the day, turning the fair visit into a delightful dinner and a show experience.

With a strong attendance of 14,834 on Thursday, the fair’s total attendance for the first two days reached an impressive 31,696, when combined with the updated Wednesday figures.

As the fair gears up for the upcoming weekend, Helen Baker, the Director of Jackson County Fairgrounds, encourages guests to stay hydrated and take advantage of the shaded, air-conditioned, and misted areas located throughout the Expo Grounds. These areas include the 4H-FFA barns, the Cow Creek Event Center (featuring the All-Alaskan Pig Races), and the misters conveniently positioned behind the Food Row. Furthermore, air-conditioned buildings are hosting Brad’s World Reptiles and the Creative Arts Exhibit, providing additional opportunities for attendees to beat the summer heat while enjoying the fair.

To ensure ease of transportation, the Eagle Point and Central Point School Districts are offering free shuttle services throughout the fair. On Friday and Saturday, shuttles will operate from Crater High School to the VIP North parking lot starting at 3:30 pm. The last bus from the Expo will depart at 12:30 am on both nights. However, please note that no shuttles will be running on Sunday.

Throughout the weekend, the Jackson County Fair promises an array of ground entertainment, including captivating performances by Brad’s World Reptiles, the All-Alaskan Racing Pigs, a live magic show featuring Adam the Great, and dazzling displays by Circus Luminescence. The Rising Star Stage will showcase a variety of talented musical acts, such as the Old Time Fiddlers, Saucy, Daniel Nickels Band, The Brothers Reed, Flat Patty, 221 Fly, and the Rogue Suspects Soul Revue. On Sunday, a qualifying event for American Idol will take place, with the winner advancing to the Oregon State Fair and potentially becoming the eventual 2024 American Idol.

Friday’s headline act at the Bi-Mart Amphitheater is the esteemed country music icon Clint Black. Renowned for his impressive catalog of hits, Clint Black has accumulated over 30 singles on the US Billboard country charts, with 22 of them reaching number one. With unforgettable songs like “Killin’ Time” and “A Better Man,” Clint Black’s performance promises to be an unforgettable evening. Lawn seats are included with fair admission, while preferred tickets are still available for purchase online or at the gate.

On Saturday, fair attendees will have the chance to witness an extraordinary show at the Bi-Mart Amphitheater, as the event presents “I Am King – The Michael Jackson Experience.” Promising an experience as close as possible to seeing the King of Pop himself, this remarkable tribute act is set to amaze audiences. Lawn seats for this event are also included with fair admission.
