Each week, in partnership with Jackson County Animal Services, Medford Alert will feature a shelter dog that’s in need of their fur-ever home in our “Dog of the Week” series.
At the Jackson County Animal Shelter, there is a special dog who has captured the hearts of the staff and volunteers.
Meet Bear, a 1.5-year-old Pit Bull, who has become our Dog of the Week for his enduring spirit and lovable personality. Bear holds a unique distinction as the longest shelter resident, having spent over 143 days eagerly awaiting his forever home.
Bear’s playful nature and abundance of energy make him the perfect companion for those seeking a furry friend to embark on exciting adventures. With an impressive strength on a leash, he would be an ideal partner for outdoor activities. However, Bear kindly requests some obedience training to ensure a harmonious life of exploration together. Currently, he knows the “sit” command, but he is enthusiastic about learning more.
True to his breed, Bear absolutely adores playing, particularly with tennis balls. He is a bundle of joy, always ready to engage in a spirited game of play. While Bear has displayed a bit of selectiveness when choosing his playmates at the shelter, it is recommended that any existing canine companions in the prospective household have a proper introduction with him.
