Pilot Survives Morning Plane Crash Near Cave Junction

An aircraft crash occurred earlier today at the intersection of Smokejumper Way and Waldo Rd, located near 30900 Redwood Hwy. The incident unfolded shortly after takeoff from Illinois Valley Airport, prompting an immediate response from the Illinois Valley Fire District and American Medical Response.

According to witnesses at the scene, the aircraft encountered trouble during takeoff and abruptly veered off course, striking a tree before coming to rest just beyond the airport’s fence line. Despite the harrowing turn of events, the plane remained largely intact and did not catch fire.

Remarkably, the pilot managed to extricate themselves from the wreckage unassisted and emerged without any injuries. Subsequently, the pilot declined medical attention.

All necessary authorities have been duly informed, ensuring appropriate measures are taken following the incident. Further investigations into the cause of the crash will likely be conducted to ascertain the factors contributing to the mishap.
