Two Men Rescued From the Rogue River Near Eagle Point

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Marine Deputies rescued two men on the Rogue River Sunday just after 4:30 p.m.

The men were attempting to float down the river on a hard-plastic canoe and became stranded on an island north of Dodge Bridge in the Eagle Point area.

Officials said the pair was using the wrong vessel for whitewater, but were fortunate to be wearing life jackets.

Jackson County Fire District 3 (JCFD3) firefighters assisted JCSO deputies with the rescue. The men were not injured during the incident.

JCSO remarked: “This rescue serves as a reminder to always wear a life jacket and make sure the watercraft you are using is suitable for the river conditions.”
