The Medford Fire Department (MFD) partnered with multiple fire agencies to begin an Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) training event near the Rogue Valley International Medford Airport.

This training is a unique opportunity for fire agencies to collaborate with the Medford Airport Fire Department. It’s also important for MFD because they are a partner agency that responds with Medford Airport personnel to aircraft emergencies inside and outside airport property.

The ARFF training is being provided through a federal transportation grant, which was facilitated by the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal.
The Medford Airport Fire Department, Medford Fire Department, Jackson County Fire District 3, Jackson County Fire District 5, Office of State Fire Marshal, and Ashland Fire Rescue all are taking place in these training events.
Crews will be training through Saturday, May 27. Please note that you may see minimal smoke near the airport during this time.
