Medford Airport Announces Live Fire Training Dates

The Rogue Valley International – Medford Airport (MFR) will be conducting a live-fire training exercise May 25-27, as part of the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting’s (ARFF) annual training program.

ARFF, along with the Medford Fire Department and Jackson County Fire District 3, will be conducting live-fire training on the east apron between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day.

The training exercise uses a 50-foot fuselage mobile aircraft trainer, capable of producing controlled fire scenarios including a fully engulfed aircraft. Smoke should be minimal as the exercise use propane and water to mitigate environmental impacts but smoke may visible in the nearby area.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires annual aircraft rescue and firefighting training with live fires for airport emergency response personnel.
