This is a developing incident. Medford Alert will continue to monitor and update as new information becomes available.
The Medford Police Department put North Medford High School into secure mode for a brief amount of time today due to suspicious activity in the vicinity of campus. Police responded immediately. The secure has been lifted and there is no current threat to safety of staff or students.
The Medford School District released the following information to school families:
The secure protocol is the action we take that was previously known as a ‘lockout.’ When we secure our schools, it means there is a threat in the area – typically something like a wild animal or a dangerous person we do not believe is targeting the school.
As part of our SECURE protocol, we move students indoors, out of hallways, lock outside doors and are go about business as usual.
Medford Alert has contacted the Medford Police Department requesting further information regarding this incident, we are awaiting a response.
