Oregon Father Arrested in Death of 4-Year Old Son

A four-year-old boy died after suffering suspicious injuries, and his father has been arrested on a murder charge.

On Wednesday, May 3, at 12:32p.m., Portland Police officers responded to an emergency call to assist paramedics in the 6400 block of Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in the Piedmont Neighborhood. The young child had suffered significant trauma and was unconscious. He was transported by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital where, despite lifesaving efforts by medical staff, he died of his injuries.

The Portland Police Bureau Child Abuse Team (CAT) and Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to investigate.

The child’s father, Marquavious D. Ware, 19, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree.
