Earlier today, Applegate Fire District firefighters were dispatched to a reported escaped open burn in the 8200 block of Highway 238.
Fire crews arrived and found approximately 1/10th of acre burning on the hillside; no structures were threatened.
Upon crews’ arrival, it was reported that there may be a potential burn patient on scene. Fire crews located the patient and rendered aid, requesting a Mercy Flights Inc helicopter to be dispatched. However, a ground ambulance was close enough to render aid.
The patient was transported by ground ambulance to a Medford area hospital, the fire was contained and no structures were damaged. The condition of the victim is not known at this time.
