Medford Man Arrested After Rural Central Point Shooting

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to a shots fired call yesterday in rural Central Point.

Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon dispatched JCSO deputies to the 2100 block of Fowler Lane just after 5 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies learned of a physical altercation where a single shot was fired. The suspect, Marion Baltazar Quirarte, 49, of Medford, was arrested for first-degree attempted assault, menacing, and unlawful use of a weapon.

He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail. The handgun was seized as evidence.

This case is under further investigation. Authorities say there is no more information available for release at this time.

A criminal complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
