Police in Oregon Locate 265 Stolen Apartment Keys During Arrests

Yesterday, Gresham Police patrol officers responded to the area of SE 190th Ave. and SE Division St. on the report a suspicious male standing in a parking lot, holding a gun.

A 911 caller saw the man trying to break into vehicles before walking eastbound on Division St., with a female. A short time later, two individuals were seen entering the parking lot of the nearby Mountain Knolls Apartments, 3180 NW Division St., Gresham, where another caller believed the suspects were associated with a possibly stolen 2011 Kia Sportage. Officers later determined the Kia was reported stolen on April 9, from the 2900 Block of W. Powell Blvd., Gresham.

As officers arrived, the suspects ran to evade capture, but both were apprehended a short time later and taken into custody without further incident. During the ensuing investigation, Sergeant Tom Walker located a large set of keys; approximately 265 apartment keys.

The keys and some other equipment recovered in this incident have been linked to the April 9 burglary at an apartment complex in the 1000 Block of NW 15th St., Gresham.

During that incident, two unidentified suspects unlawfully entered the office during the night, stealing the keys and several electronic devices.

No additional information was provided by officials at this time.
