Arrest Made in Central Point Skate Park Shooting

Lieutenant Abbott with the Central Point Police Department (CPPD) has told Medford Alert that the suspect in yesterdays shooting has been taken into custody.

Throughout the night, detectives were working several leads that lead them to the Grants Pass area. The vehicle that was believed used in this shooting was located at a residence in Josephine County.

Jackson County used a SWAT team, with the assistance of Josephine County law enforcement, to take the suspect into custody without resistance.

Medford Alert will update this article once officials release the name of the suspect in custody. Lieutenant Abbott say the suspect is an adult and not a minor.

CPPD also has reported that the victim had just recently turned 18, and is not a minor. The male victim is still in stable condition and is expected to mostly recover from his injuries.


Update: The Central Point Police Department released the following statement this afternoon.

Several Rogue Valley law enforcement agencies served a search warrant in the 2400 block of Jerome Prairie Road, outside the city limits of Grants Pass. The suspect in this investigation was taken into custody without incident. A search of the property and involved vehicle yielded further evidence. The Central Point Police were assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Grants Pass Police, Josephine County Sheriff and the U.S. Marshal Service.

The suspect will be lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder, Assault I, Robbery I and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The suspect has been identified as 20 year old Christopher Eduardo Jimenez, of Grants Pass.


A criminal complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
