Two major bridge improvement projects will affect traffic in south Ashland this spring and summer. Drivers should be prepared to alter travel times and routes.
Beginning April 10, the East Main Street Bridge over Interstate 5 closes to all traffic for about five weeks. The closure on the narrow bridge will allow an ODOT contractor to quickly rehabilitate the deck surface and provide a new wearing surface. The bridge is expected to open to all traffic later in May.

Work will then begin rehabilitating the OR 66 Ashland Street bridge deck over the railroad overpass. This work is expected to take about 10 weeks. Drivers should expect a single lane in each direction while this project is underway through the beginning of August.
The timing of both projects will allow the East Main Street Bridge over Interstate 5 — one of several Ashland evacuation routes — to be reopened before southern Oregon’s fire season.
A project drop-in open house is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28 at The Grove, 1195 East Main Street.
