9:45a UPDATE: All lanes are now open. Proceed with caution as there is heavy congestion.
All southbound lanes of Interstate 5 are closed at Exit 14 in Ashland to the California border due to severe winter conditions in northern California.
The I-5 closure — at Caltrans’ request — may last for several hours until conditions in California improve.
Caltrans has also closed I-5 northbound from Redding to the Oregon border, and U.S. 97 from milepost 1 to 35. OR 66 and OR 273 are closed to all but local traffic.
ODOT asks trucks to keep Ashland St. clear if waiting out closure, and do not attempt a detour using Dead Indian Memorial Rd.
