A Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Search and Rescue (SAR) Snow Cat located two missing women this afternoon after they were stranded in deep snow overnight.

The women became stuck in snow while attempting to drive around the I-5 closure. Their phone GPS routed them onto an unmaintained road.
JCSO deputies and SAR personnel searched for them all night and into this morning before they were located this afternoon 14-miles up West Fork Evans Creek Road in the Elderberry Flats area.

Officials say the women made the right decision by staying with their vehicle until they were rescued. Overall, around 20 SAR volunteers searched for the women with four-wheel-drive vehicles and a Snow Cat. There were no reported injuries.
