On Saturday, January 28th, Medford Fire Department (MFD) personnel were dispatched to Prescott Park at Roxy Ann Peak for a reporting hiking accident.
The victim fell and was unable to bare weight on one leg as a result.
MFD personnel were able to transport the person half a mile down the trail with a gurney. Mercy Flights crews assisted with getting the citizen safely to the parking lot.
This incident serves as a reminder to make sure you have a way to contact emergency personnel while enjoying the outdoors, such as hiking. If planning an outing in an area without cellular coverage, make a friend or family member aware of where you are going, and the time you expect to return.
