At approximately 5:37p today, Ashland Fire Rescue (AFR), Ashland Police (APD), Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), and Mercy Flights were dispatched to a vehicle vs pedestrian call in Ashland.


The incident took place on YMCA Way and Ashland Street. According to one witness, the driver of the vehicle involved was attempting CPR on the pedestrian prior to first responders arriving on scene. The driver was seemingly cooperative with authorities throughout the incident.
Ashland Street, between Tolman Creek and Clay Street was closed for several hours as crews worked the incident.
Due to the severity of the incident, Ashland Police requested the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team be activated for this crash. Additional personnel from other metro law enforcement agencies were sent to the crash scene to help investigate, as a result.
Late tonight, Ashland Police confirmed that the pedestrian hit has died as a result of the incident.
Ashland Police remarked on their social media tonight: “Once more is learned from investigators, additional information will be released. The victim’s name will be withheld until notification of the next of kin can be made.”
All roads are open at this time in the area of the prior crash. Currently, the investigation is in its early stages and there is no information regarding the driver of the vehicle involved.
