Hit and Run Driver Knocks Out Power to 1000 in South Medford

Pacific Power is currently aware of a power outage in the South Pacific area. As of 11:15p, there are approximately 1000 customers without service.

Pacific Power reports they have crews on scene working on the outage. The cause of the outage is believed to have been a hit and run driver in a truck that took out at least one power pole on Siskiyou Blvd. Lines are down and westbound lanes on the street are closed at Willamette, as of 11:20p. The estimated time for service recovery at this time is prior to 2:30a, according to Pacific Power.

Medford Police are searching for a white or silver, Dodge truck that was believed to have been involved. The suspect vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Siskiyou Blvd, according to radio traffic.

11:55p UPDATE: Power has been restored to approximately 700 of the 1001 affected customers.
