At approximately 8:31a today, multiple Medford Fire (MFD), Medford Police (MPD), and Jackson County Fire District 3 (JCFD3) units were dispatched to the 2100 block of E. Barnett for a structure fire.

All westbound traffic was closed at Black Oak at 8:45a.

This structure fire was taking place near the Orchard Home Villas area, a tightly built complex consisting of multiple townhouses. The fire itself was believed to be in an abandoned house directly to the west of the complex, that is slated for redevelopment.

Several Medford Police units were also actively searching for at least one suspect possibly wanted in connection with this incident. Officers had contacted a subject at the Bear Creek Dog Park that they were interviewing regarding this fire. Other law enforcement personnel were searching the nearby Bear Creek Greenway for possible suspects, as described by witnesses.

9:00a: Westbound lanes are open, one eastbound lane remains closed.

9:11a: Fire is out and mop up is complete. Remaining fire units clearing scene. No injuries reported at this time.
