At approximately 10:40a this morning, Jackson County Fire District 5 units were dispatched to a reported fire along the Bear Creek Greenway in north Ashland.
It’s estimated to be a quarter-acre, burning through grass and blackberry bushes. ODOT is also assisting with traffic control.
OSF reports that firefighters on scene are aggressively working to knock the fire down and have lined nearly the entire perimeter. It’s not expected to grow past this point.
FINAL UPDATE: Firefighters were able to drive down the Bear Creek Greenway to get to the fire, which was contained quickly at one-half acre. A cause is being investigated, but unknown at this time.
No evacuations were needed after incident commanders assessed the situation upon arrival.
