Multiple Agencies Extinguish Wildfire South of Shady Cove

The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and Jackson County Fire District 4 (JCFD4) are currently on scene of an active wildfire.

At approximately 6:13p, ODF reported the fire to be about 1 acre in size. Crews are also addressing at least one spot fire that is active to the east of the primary fire.

There is at least one air attack unit assisting at this time. Additional water tenders have been requested are heading to the scene.

The fire located on a ridge near OR62 and Hammel Rd. ODF says resources are engaged in an aggressive initial attack, including multiple engines, a hand crew, a Helitack team and Type 3 helicopter, as well as a Type 2 helicopter and an air attack plane.

At 6:40p, officials say the fire is approximately 25% contained as fire activity has dropped significantly. All crews are still engaging in active a firefight.

At 7p, at least one helicopter headed into base for fuel. One plane and helicopter are still working the fire.

At 7:09p, command began releasing standby and active fire units as they reported the fire to be 100% lined.

ODF provided this final update: This will be the final update on this incident unless conditions significantly change. The cause of this fire is currently under investigation.

There is currently no threat to any surrounding structures or vegetation.
