Two-Alarm West Medford Structure Fire Snarls Traffic

At approximately 2:08p today, Medford Fire Department (MFD) units were dispatched to the area of S. Columbus Ave at W. Prune St in west Medford, for a possible structure fire.

Arriving units described a fully engulfed single family home. Additional fire units continued to the scene as on-scene MFD personnel began to run hoses for the firefight. Medford Police (MPD) also arrived on scene to assist with traffic control.

At one point, Medford Police closed down southbound Columbus Ave at W. Prune to allow fire crews to run hoses and fight the structure fire.

Shortly after 2:25p, dispatch upgraded the fire response to a second alarm. That activated two additional engine companies and sent them to assist. Jackson County Fire District 3 (JCFD3) was on scene assisting MFD units as well.

Crews had the structure fire under control shortly after 2:45p. No additional resources were needed as some units were cleared from the scene.

A fire investigator is on scene and will access the structure once mop-up of site is completed.

Medford Fire said affected roads were opened back up around 4p.

No additional information is available at this time. Medford Alert will continue to monitor this incident and update once more details are released from officials.
