Applegate Valley Fire District and ODF firefighters have stopped the Sterling Creek Fire, located on the 11000-block of Sterling Creek road, at one acre. It’s now 100% lined and mopped up.

The fire was first reported at approximately 12:15 as a grass fire on private land. When firefighters arrived on scene, it was reported to be an estimated quarter-acre growing slowly in the grass. Once fire command assessed the situation, a second-alarm was called in for additional resources. The second-alarm request was later cancelled as the fire was brought under control.

Firefighters were able to catch it at one acre in size.
The cause of this fire is under investigation. As the
weather warms up, ODF say to be aware of the potential for fires to start and spread.
