Controlled Burn Planned for Today in the Ashland Watershed

Today, AFR Partners are conducting a prescribed underburn on the east side of the Ashland Watershed in the Winburn Ridge area.

Up to 80 acres could be burned depending on conditions and smoke disperal. There should be no impact to public roads or trails. Authorities thank the public for their continued patience as crews continue to do the important work of removing these excess fuels from the Ashland watershed for a safer community and more resilient ecosystem.

Underburn conditions are associated with warmer and drier weather that is forecasted this week. This burning is a critical piece of ongoing work to prepare for hotter and drier summers overall.
