New Cinema to Open for North Metro Residents

For decades, residents of the Agate Desert have had a multiplex to watch their new and favorite films on. For the past few years, Cinemark owned the “Movies 6” theater along Highway 62.

During the pandemic, most all indoor theaters temporarily closed due to mandates. As businesses have returned to normal, most movie theaters have reopened. Cinemark, however, decided that they would no longer operate the White City location.

Many longtime residents were saddened by the news. As it meant the last remaining movie-plex in the area was closed for good.

But the wait to see the latest Hollywood blockbuster is almost over. Coming Attractions Theater is in the midst of a remodel which will bring the big screens back to life in White City.

The company expects the movie theater to be open for business in “late November”. The new name will be “Crater Lake Cinema” and will offer an arcade, snack bar, birthday rooms, and full theater rentals, along other options.

The company is currently training and hiring staff for the opening. If interested, you can go to their website for more information.

Coming Attraction Theaters operate locations in Ashland and Grants Pass currently.
