MEDFORD, Ore. (Oct. 26, 2026) — Rogue Regional Medical Center has completed a major expansion of its cardiovascular services, adding six new cardiac catheterization laboratories and doubling its recovery space to increase access to advanced heart care for patients across Southern Oregon and Northern California.
Asante announced the completion and opening of the expanded facilities Monday, Oct. 26, marking another significant investment in the hospital’s cardiovascular program.
The project was supported by philanthropic contributions, including a $1 million donation from J. Paul and Geertje de Vos.
The expansion includes six new cardiac catheterization laboratories, an enlarged Cardiovascular Recovery Unit and the consolidation of cardiovascular services into a centralized location. Hospital officials say the improvements are designed to increase patient capacity, streamline operations and improve coordination among medical teams.
“This expansion ensures we can meet growing demand for advanced cardiovascular services, provide patients with access to leading-edge treatment close to home and continue delivering the exceptional care our region depends on,” said Jon Cooper, CEO of Rogue Regional Medical Center.
Asante performs thousands of cardiac catheterization procedures annually, including emergency interventions for heart attacks, diagnostic angiograms, transcatheter aortic valve replacements and other advanced heart procedures.
The health system also performs nearly 2,000 electrophysiology procedures and pacemaker implants each year to diagnose and treat heart rhythm disorders.
The newly opened facilities are intended to help accommodate growing demand for those services while allowing more patients to receive specialized treatment locally rather than traveling outside the region.
The expansion builds on previous improvements made through Asante’s AsanteForward campaign, including new cardiothoracic surgical suites, hybrid operating rooms and a 24-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit that opened in 2024.
Together, the projects represent a broader effort to expand the hospital’s ability to treat patients with serious cardiovascular conditions, including heart attacks, heart valve disease and irregular heart rhythms.
Asante officials emphasized the importance of charitable contributions in financing major improvements to the nonprofit health system.
“As a nonprofit health system, philanthropy is essential to our ability to make transformative investments like this,” said Andrea Reeder, Asante’s senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer. “The generosity of Paul and Geertje de Vos will help thousands of patients receive lifesaving cardiac care in a world-class environment. Their leadership and commitment to this community will have a lasting impact on the health of our region.”
The $1 million contribution from the de Vos family helped support the expansion, which Asante says will benefit thousands of patients and families throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California.
With the new laboratories and expanded recovery facilities now open, Rogue Regional Medical Center has increased its capacity to provide advanced cardiovascular treatment to patients throughout the region.
