Medford Fire Station 15 to Celebrate Grand Opening with Community Open House

MEDFORD, Ore. (Oct. 4, 2026) — City of Medford Fire-Rescue will celebrate the completion of its new Fire Station 15 with a grand opening ceremony and community open house Saturday, Oct. 10, at 2124 Roberts Road in northeast Medford.

The grand opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a community open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents will have an opportunity to tour the new station, view fire equipment and apparatus, meet Medford firefighters and learn more about the people and resources responsible for providing emergency services to the community.

The celebration marks the completion of a major rebuild of Station 15, which was Medford Fire Department’s oldest and most outdated fire station.

Replacing a 50-year-old fire station

The original Station 15 was built in 1975 and underwent a partial remodel in 2007. After more than five decades of service, the facility was the last of Medford’s fire stations to be rebuilt and modernized.

The city broke ground on the replacement project April 10, 2025. Because firefighters needed to continue responding to emergencies throughout construction, the project was completed in phases.

A temporary apparatus bay and modular housing unit were constructed on the property before firefighters moved out of the old station in August 2025. The original station was demolished Sept. 15, 2025, clearing the way for construction of the new facility.

The new station is approximately 9,960 square feet and was designed to provide a modern workspace that better supports firefighter health, safety and training while improving emergency response capabilities.

The project also provides additional operational space for the fire department. Once construction activities are complete, the temporary apparatus bay used during the rebuild will be converted into a permanent logistics facility for the department’s Support Services Division.

Built for future needs

The rebuilt Station 15 is designed to accommodate a four-person engine crew and a two-person EMS squad, with additional capacity for future growth as northeast Medford’s emergency service needs increase.

The station will also house one of Medford Fire’s three EMS squads, allowing the department to expand emergency medical response while keeping fire engines available for fire-related calls.

The project is funded through $4 million in city reserves, a 50-cent increase to the public safety portion of the city’s utility fee and approximately $300,000 annually from local marijuana tax revenue.

Construction was led by Outlier Construction. The city reported in July that firefighters had moved into the new station and that the project remained on track to finish ahead of schedule and under budget.

For Medford firefighters, the Oct. 10 celebration will mark more than the opening of a new building. It will represent the completion of a long-awaited modernization of a station that served the community for more than 50 years.
