Warm Weather to Continue Before Potential Rain, Cooler Temperatures Late Week

MEDFORD, Ore. (Sep. 20, 2026) — Warm and dry conditions will continue across the Rogue Valley in the coming days before a potential shift to wetter and cooler weather later in the week, according to the National Weather Service in Medford.

Temperatures in Medford are expected to remain warmer than normal through the early part of the week. Monday will bring slightly cooler temperatures as a ridge of high pressure weakens, with additional cooling expected Tuesday and Wednesday.

Valley temperatures west and east of the Cascades are expected to fall into the upper 70s by Tuesday and Wednesday as the region moves into a more typical late-September weather pattern.

The forecast becomes less certain Thursday into Friday, when there is a 40% to 60% chance of rain.

Weather models differ on how much moisture will move into the Pacific Northwest and where the heaviest precipitation could occur. Some scenarios bring a low-pressure system and upper-level trough into the region, while others keep conditions mostly dry.

Forecasters said some models place the greatest rainfall farther north in Washington and other areas, while others indicate the possibility of precipitation reaching Southern Oregon.

After Friday, conditions are expected to turn drier, with temperatures becoming notably cooler and more fall-like.

For now, forecasters expect warm and dry weather to remain the dominant pattern across the Rogue Valley, with the greatest potential for a significant weather change arriving Thursday night into Friday.
