

BUTTE FALLS, Ore. (Aug. 23, 2026) — Firefighters are responding to a grass fire along Prospect Road in the Butte Falls area Sunday afternoon, with an aggressive initial attack underway from the air and ground.
The fire was estimated at approximately 2 acres as of 3:30 p.m., according to fire officials.
Air Attack is on scene coordinating aerial operations, while helicopters are making water bucket drops on the fire. A Type 3 helicopter and two Type 2 helicopters were initially dispatched along with multiple ground resources.
Fire officials are asking the public to avoid the area and give firefighters and responding emergency personnel room to work safely.

Forward progression of the fire has been stopped despite hot, dry and windy conditions.
Thanks to an aggressive initial attack from firefighters on the ground and aircraft, the fire remains estimated at two acres.
Crews are continuing to strengthen the perimeter and secure the fire.
