Medford Police Arrest Local Man Following Child Exploitation Investigation

MEDFORD, Ore. (Jul. 29, 2026) — A 29-year-old Medford man has been indicted on multiple child sexual abuse material-related charges following an investigation by the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) and the Medford Police Department.

A Jackson County Grand Jury returned an indictment on Tuesday, July 28, charging Jonathan Daniel Marquez, 29, with two counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse and 10 counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse.

Marquez was arrested by SOCET investigators and Medford police on Thursday, July 23, at a residence in the 800 block of Bennett Avenue in Medford. He is lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

According to investigators, the case began after the Medford Police Department received a report of suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on a mobile device. The investigation led to the issuance of subpoenas and, ultimately, a search warrant for the residence.

During the execution of the search warrant, investigators seized a digital device that was forensically examined by the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force (SOHTCTF). Authorities said the examination uncovered additional images of suspected child sexual abuse material.

SOCET is a multi-agency task force established in June 2020 to investigate and combat child exploitation. The team includes investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, the Oregon Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and prosecutors from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in Jackson County.

The Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force is a joint task force comprised of investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations and the Medford Police Department.

Authorities said no additional information is being released at this time.

As with all criminal cases, the charges against Marquez are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
