


CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (Jul. 16, 2026) — A 67-year-old Central Point woman has been arrested on a murder charge after a man was found fatally shot inside a rural home early Wednesday morning, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon received a report of gunshots near the 6000 block of Kershaw Road at approximately 4:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 15. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the residence and found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside the home.
The victim was identified as Juan Carlos Ramirez-Arango, 62, of Central Point, after next-of-kin were notified. The sheriff’s office extended its condolences to Ramirez-Arango’s family and others affected by the homicide.
Detectives investigating the case said evidence collected at the scene led to the arrest of Pamela Sue Maya, 67, of Central Point, who was reportedly in a relationship with the victim.
Maya was booked into the Jackson County Jail on a charge of second-degree murder.
The Ashland Police Department and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office assisted with the investigation, while the Oregon State Police Forensics Laboratory processed the crime scene.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released.
All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
