GRANTS PASS, Ore. (Jul. 13, 2026) — A juvenile girl was injured after being struck by high-velocity water beads fired from a passing vehicle Sunday afternoon in Grants Pass, prompting an active investigation by local police.
According to the Grants Pass Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:02 p.m. on July 12 after receiving a report that a female juvenile had been struck by water beads while walking along Northeast Jackson Street.
Police said the victim sustained numerous injuries to her back that were consistent with being hit by water beads fired from a gel-bead “blaster.” The devices are marketed as launching water-filled gel beads at high velocity, with the beads designed to burst upon impact.
Investigators determined the suspects, identified as male juveniles, allegedly fired the gel beads from a moving vehicle as they drove past the victim before leaving the area. Police said the suspects have since been identified.
The investigation remains active and is being treated as a high-priority case by the Grants Pass Police Department. Because those involved are juveniles, authorities said no additional information will be released at this time.
