Grange Co-op Members Approve Merger With California’s Farm Supply Company

MEDFORD, Ore. (Jul. 10, 2026) — Members of Grange Co-op and California-based Farm Supply Company have approved a merger that will combine the two agricultural cooperatives under the Grange Co-op name, creating a larger member-owned organization serving farmers, ranchers and rural communities across Oregon and California.

The merger, announced Friday, will make Grange Co-op the continuing organization, with Farm Supply Company’s operations becoming part of the cooperative. The transaction is expected to take effect Oct. 1.

Grange Co-op Chief Executive Officer Neil Itzen will lead the combined organization, providing continuity as the two cooperatives integrate their operations. “We’re grateful for the trust our members placed in us with this vote,” Itzen said in a statement. “Grange Co-op and Farm Supply Company have always shared the same commitment to the farmers, ranchers, and communities we serve, and this merger lets us build on that commitment at a greater scale. We’re proud to carry forward more than a century and a half of service, together.”

The merger expands Grange Co-op’s footprint from eight retail locations — six in Oregon and two in Northern California — by adding Farm Supply Company’s five California stores. The combined cooperative will employ approximately 460 people across Oregon and California.

Officials said the larger organization is expected to benefit from increased purchasing power, improved product availability and stronger supplier relationships.

Farm Supply Company CEO Michael Mendes said members of both cooperatives independently concluded that the merger would strengthen the organizations over the long term. “Farm Supply has spent decades earning the trust of the growers and ranchers we serve, and our members and Grange Co-op’s members reached the same conclusion independently: this partnership makes us stronger for the long run,” Mendes said. “I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to vote and to everyone who helped get us to this point.”

The cooperatives said they will spend the coming months completing the remaining steps needed to finalize the merger. Once complete, the combined organization will operate under a unified governance structure while maintaining its member-owned cooperative model.

Founded in 1934, Grange Co-op operates retail stores offering agricultural supplies, pet products, lawn and garden items, nursery products, clothing and farm supplies throughout Oregon and Northern California.

Farm Supply Company has served California’s agricultural communities for 76 years, providing products and services to farmers, ranchers and rural residents.
