MEDFORD, Ore. (Mar. 9, 2026) — A 26-year-old driver was arrested Monday after crashing a vehicle into a residence in Medford’s Liberty Park District and then attempting to flee on foot, according to the Medford Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 11 a.m. Monday, March 9, to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building near the intersection of Beatty Street and Manzanita Street.
Investigators determined the driver of a green Toyota sedan had been traveling northbound on Manzanita Street and driving recklessly before failing to negotiate the intersection and colliding with a nearby home.
The driver fled the vehicle on foot following the crash but was quickly captured by responding patrol officers.
Authorities said both the driver and a resident inside the home sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The suspect was taken into custody and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on charges of third-degree assault, felony hit-and-run, first-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person.
Police said they have seen multiple posts circulating on social media claiming the crash occurred during a police pursuit. Officials clarified that the information is inaccurate.
According to the police department, officers were not attempting to stop the vehicle at the time of the crash and responded only after witnesses reported the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
